Courtenay & District Memorial Outdoor Swimming Pool Registration for all pool programs begins Monday May 17 at 7:15 am Phone and online registrations only at this time Open swims, Aquafit and length swimming can only be booked 2 weeks at a time. The 2 week booking terms are listed below along with their registration dates:

• All pool programs and spots must be pre-reserved and will operate based on reduced numbers due to PHO Guide- lines. • Only flutter boards, PFDs & fit- ness belts will be provided and must be disinfected between each use. • Please arrive only 5 minutes prior to your swim, you will not be allowed to enter early. • Masks may be required in all dry areas of the pool and washrooms. • No change rooms available - come dressed and ready to swim. • Washrooms will be open but limited. • Due to construction on the 5th Street Bridge, please plan ahead to ensure you arrive on time for your reserved pool booking. Child must be able to hold his/her head up. In- troduction to getting wet. Perform a front, back, vertical position (assisted), move forward, backward and use arms (assisted). Move forward backwards (assisted), front, back floats and recovery (as- sisted) and use buoyant objects for support. If just starting out, no pre- vious lessons required. Can comfortably move and float with assistance and put face in the water. Can enter shallow water safely; float and glide on front and back without as- sistance; move around in a PFD; perform rhythmic breathing 5 times. Can jump into chest deep water, do front and back floats and recover and swim on front for 5 metres. Can float front and back, exhale through mouth and nose; flutter kick while glid- ing on front and back; swim 10 metres continuously.

Can swim front & back crawl at least 100m; elementary backstroke & breast stroke 25m; swim 400m continuously. Can swim front crawl and back crawl at least 75 metres; elementary backstroke and breaststroke at least 25 metres; head first sculling on back 10 metres; stride jump; swim 300m continuously. Can float/front and back, exhale through mouth and nose; flutter kick while gliding on front and back; swim 5 metres continuously. Deep water activities; breathe rhythmi- cally 10 times; glide front/back with kick for 5m; swim 10m continuously. Can swim front crawl at least 5 metres, arms recovering above water; swim 15 metres continuously. Can surface support 45 seconds; swim front crawl at least 10m; swim on back with kick 10m; swim 25m continuously. PLEASE NOTE: • Due to COVID-19, swim lessons are touchless. With the exception of demonstrations, swim instructors will be on the pool deck for the entire class • All preschool and school aged classes for level 4 and under require an adult aged 16+ in the water • Swim instructors will teach the child’s adult the proper techniques and holds to help their child. Feedback will be given to the adult so that they can assist their child throughout the class • School aged children level 5 and up will also be touchless classes with the instructor on the pool deck (except for demonstrations). No parent participation is required at these levels • Please ensure you are registering your child in the correct level
