Building connections through our parks and trails

Arden Active Transportation Bridge This summer, the City celebrated the opening of the Arden Active Transportation Bridge, a new link between the 1st Street and Lake Trail Road walking and cycling corridors. The bridge improves access between neighbourhoods, schools, parks and community destinations. It also helps close a gap in the City's active transportation network. The project supports safer travel for residents of all ages and abilities, including students and families accessing Lake Trail Community School, École Puntledge Park Elementary and Arden Elementary. 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge The City of Courtenay continues to invest in safe, accessible and connected public spaces through a series of bridge projects that strengthen the community's parks and active transportation network. The new bridge enhances key connec tions throughout the community with infrastruc ture that supports walking, cycling, rolling and access to parks and public spaces. Simms Millennium Park Pedestrian Bridge The City also completed the replacement of the Simms Millennium Park Pedestrian Bridge, renewing a link within one of Courtenay's most popular waterfront parks. While smaller in scale, the bridge plays a vital role in maintaining seamless pedestrian and cycling connections through Simms Millennium Park and to the nearby 6th Street Active Transportation Bridge. The new structure provides a safe, accessi ble and durable crossing that will help ensure residents and visitors can continue to enjoy access throughout the park and waterfront trail system for decades to come.
