Summer 2021 for pdf

SCAVENGER HUNT It is hard to predict whether we are able to gather for a group scavenger hunt. So in case we cannot, here is a scavenger hunt you can do out and about in your community. We would love to see what you come up with! Feel free to take pictures and send them to lmcgrath@courtenay.ca to enter a draw for prizes!

MCFD SUMMER CAMP SUPPORT

LEISURE BUDDIES Is there a program that your child is interested in but requires additional help to better support them? Please contact the Adaptive & Inclusive Program Supervisor to help set your child up with a Leisure Buddy which will give them a helping hand in their program of interest. Thank you to the Comox Valley Community Foundation and CVRD for their ongoing support that allows us to offer affordable pro - gramming options for inclusion in Courtenay Recreation programs.

Families who have children receiv- ing services through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) are eligible for support in our Summer Camp Programs for ages 6 - 18 years. These programs are for children/youth who have ad- ditional support considerations and are wanting to attend camp. Please contact the local Children and Youth with Special Needs (CYSN) office at 250-334-5820 to see if your child/ youth is eligible as a letter from CYSN is required for registration. Only children/youth with an intel- lectual disability, autism, or who receive services through the At Home program are eligible for CYSN services.

Meet Laura Hello readers of the Adapted Program Newsletter! My name is Laura McGrath and I am the new Adapted & Inclu- sive Programming Supervisor with the City of Courtenay’s Rec- reation department. I am delighted and grateful to be in this role in such an amazing community. Here is a little bit about myself: I grew up on beautiful Prince Edward Island then moved to rug - ged Newfoundland where I completed my Bachelor of Recre- ation from Memorial University. Continuing the trend of living solely on islands, I sought the allure of the West Coast and chose Vancouver Island as my new home. I lived in Victoria for close to 4 years and have loved this island with all of its offer - ings, then was very excited to have the opportunity to move to the beautiful Comox Valley. I am a lover of the outdoors, na- ture, and wildlife, as well as music, dancing, and having a good laugh. I am eager and excited to get to know the people of this amaz- ing community and provide quality experiences and opportuni- ties for the residents of the Comox Valley!
