ST 14

Create an electric vehicle (EV) public charging network plan to ensure that public electric vehicle (including electric bike) charging and parking facilities are conveniently distributed throughout the city, establish common design guidelines, set standardized usage regulations and fees, and are coordinated across public and private properties such as large commercial properties, gas stations, within Town and Neighbourhood Centres. Work with the Comox Valley local governments, BC Hydro, and the business community to plan and install Level 3 Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) stations in strategic locations. Establish and/or promote incentive programs including rebates, bulk purchasing and financing mechanisms to install EV charging stations in existing single residential dwellings and multi-residences as well as commercial properties located within new Town and Neighbourhood Centres. Do this in partnership with and in relation to others developing such programs to cover gaps and maximize uptake.
