Ribbon Cutting for New Puntledge Park Playground

The new playground area at Puntledge Park has been put to the test by countless children and families since it was completed in July. At the end of August, the City of Courtenay and the Rotary Club of Strathcona Sunrise officially opened the playground at a ribbon cutting event. The playground has a slide pole, space walk, rock wall, climbers, overhead ladder, and a wave slide. A new set of swings includes a parent and tot combination swing. New benches and picnic tables were installed around the equipment, and native plants were added to the garden area adjacent to the playground.

Simms Park Summer Concert Series Season Wrap-Up The 2018 concert season was a great mix of local musical talent. The season finale performance by Pure Petty wowed a crowd of 1,200 people, who contributed 1,200 pounds of food donations through a Food Bank Drive, and raised just over – you guessed it - $1,200 in cash donations. Thanks to everyone who contributed! Due to the food drive’s success another

is being planned for the 2019 concert season.
