Earlier this year the Canadian Red Cross announced it is winding down its swim and lifeguard program- ming to direct more attention to surging humanitarian demands in other areas. Due to this change, starting in Summer 2023 the Courtenay Outdoor Memorial Pool’s swim lessons will transition to the Swim for life model with the Lifesaving Society of Canada. Challenge yourself to a day of training with the Courtenay Fire Depart - ment. Test your physical and mental abilities as you discover the life of a firefighter. This fun and informative day will educate you about the volunteer and career possibilities in firefighting. Activities may include fire extinguisher training, auto extraction, building searches and more. Please bring a lunch to fuel you through the day.
